Task
Westlands' required a microsite to support their TV ad, explaining how, where and when to use their new slug and snail killer, Eraza. The brief landed as a pitch.
Solution
The pitch was successfully won and a new client gained thanks to my 'Slugometer' device proposed in the creative response. The client loved it and felt the concept dovetailed in nicely with the light-hearted TVC in which a slug gets zapped by a lightning bolt and ends up in front of the Pearly Gates. I wanted to capture a bit of this humour and inject it into the microsite that also had a serious informative job to do.
With some digging around I discovered that the little slimy critters love mild and damp weather. With this in mind a weather app was created utilising an RSS weather feed - customers just needed to tap their postcodes into the 'Slugometer' to find out how likely their gardens were going to be infested with the gastropods.
The microsite contained a how to video and even the sites navigation tabs mimicked the unique opening system of the products packaging, to further enlighten customers and potential buyers.
The 'Slugometer' allowed people to find out how likely their gardens were going to be infested with slugs via an RSS weather feed built into the site.
